CURTIS LAVARELLO
Executive Director
Curtis “Curt” Lavarello came to the Coalition with over 25 years in law
enforcement. Curt has served as a patrol officer, patrol supervisor, child
abuse detective and both supervisor and detective of the school resource
officer program. Curt was recognized in 1987 as South Florida’s Law
Enforcement “Officer of the Year”, for his work with the youth of Broward
County, Florida. In 1994, Curt started the first Youth Court Program
for Palm Beach County (FL), which now serves as a national model. Curt was
the founder, board member, president, life member and for 5-years prior to
joining SCoSA,
Executive Director of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).
While heading the association, Curt was responsible for increasing
membership to over 16,000 members, and developing partnerships with both
national companies and federal agencies. Curt has traveled extensively
speaking on school safety, school based policing and school terrorism
issues, and has been featured on CNN, Fox News, CBS News and ABC, as well as
heard numerous times on National Public Radio. Curt continues to have an
active role in school safety on the national level, while serving as the
Executive Director of SCoSA.

Lisa Britt
Administrative Assistant/CFO
Lisa
Britt is a lifetime resident of Sarasota with extensive ties to the
community. Her professional background includes several years in
childcare service including acting as the executive director of a preschool
in Port Charlotte, office administration, and customer service. Lisa
is a graduate of the State College of Florida with a concentration in
Accounting and is currently seeking her Bachelor's degree from the
University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee Campus.

Crissa Harman
Outreach Prevention Coordinator
Having grown up in Sarasota, Crissa
Harman brings her firsthand knowledge of the area and its people to the
Coalition. She is personally familiar with the Sarasota school system and
has had occupational as well as volunteer experience with the Sarasota YMCA,
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Sarasota-Manatee, First Step of Sarasota-Manatee
and the Florida Center for Early Childhood.
Crissa attended State College of Florida, the
University of South Florida and, ultimately, achieved her Master’s Degree in
Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University. Crissa believes that her
experience and ties to the community will help the Coalition in its goals
for substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery.
