”Robert P. Rosin will be recognized on February 28
at annual Awards Banquet”

The Sarasota Coalition on Substance Abuse, Inc. (SCoSA) will honor Sarasota County resident and practicing attorney Robert P. Rosin as its “Citizen of the Year” at their 1st Annual “Sarasota Shining Stars” Award & Recognition Banquet.  Mr. Rosin will be named at the event scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2006 (6 pm) at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium.  Florida State University Head Football Coach Bobby Bowden will be on hand for the award, and will deliver the event’s keynote address.

Mr. Rosin was selected by the Award Committee for his many years as a distinguished leader, philanthropist and parent.  “Selecting one individual who shines above the rest, is never an easy task”, states Curt Lavarello, Executive Director for the coalition.  “Yet, it is clearly evident that Robert exemplifies the term “Role Model” and is so very deserving of this honor”, continued Lavarello.

Mr. Rosin has volunteered over 8 years as a scout master, donated countless hours with the United Way and recently served as volunteer chairman of the Sarasota County United Jewish Appeal.  His pro-bono work as an attorney has assisted poorer families acquire legal assistance and in one case, resulted in the reunification of a mother with her children.

“I cannot think of a more deserving family man that Robert P. Rosin”, states David Striplin, who is the chairman for the awards event, and vice-president of investments with GunnAllen Financial, in Sarasota.  “Bob’s good deeds are countless, and his love for this community stands out.” continued Striplin.

Also being honored at the event are several Sarasota County High School students, who will be presented with $1,000 scholarships toward their college tuition by the Coalition.  Tickets remain available for the banquet by calling 941-922-SAFE or by going online at www.SCOSA.org.
