Florida State University Head Football Coach Bobby Bowden delivered the keynote address at the Shining Stars event on February 28, 2006 at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium.


The ten $1,000 Shining Star scholarship winners are [L to R]:  Megan Cogburn [Venice High School], Channing Cookerly [Pine View High School], Alisha Gustitus [North Port High School], Branan Jacobs [Riverview High School], Tamesha Mills [Cyesis High School], Nelly Molina [Sarasota High School], Valeria Obi [Booker High School], Amanda Smith [Cardinal Mooney High School], Elizabeth Bucken [Riverview High School], and Robert Apple [Venice High School].
