Shining Stars"

Scholarships and Awards Banquet

was held at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium on

February 28, 2006

SCoSA recognized the outstanding leaders of our community, honored our 2006 'Citizen of the Year' ROBERT P. ROSIN, and presented ten $1,000 'Shining Star' scholarships to  Sarasota County High School seniors during this event.  A silent auction that featured local sports memorabilia and pieces donated by local businesses and artists was held that evening during the event.

COACH BOBBY BOWDEN


Coach Bobby Bowden is the all-time winningest coach in major college history.  He is the winningest bowl coach by percentage and is just one shy of tying for the most bowl wins ever by a college coach.  What Bobby Bowden means to Florida State University off the playing field cannot be measured. Respect, sincerity, class, honesty, charisma, charm and humor are just some of the words that describe and define this man better than wins, losses or coaching records.

 

Rising above Bowden's coaching accomplishments, though, are his credentials as a man. Friendly and outgoing, he is a deeply religious man who believes strongly in the strength of the family. He loves people. His personality and charm are bigger than life and he has become somewhat of a folk hero. An engaging speaker, Bowden is constantly in demand and most free evenings will find him on the speaking circuit.
