 SCoSA honored by Area Agency on Aging

 for Southwest Florida

 

The Sarasota Coalition on Substance Abuse received a certificate of honor from the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida at an awards luncheon on June 8, 2006 in Fort Myers. 

 

The Coalition was honored as a nominee of the Helen K. Fallert Golden Appreciation Award for efforts to enhance the lives of older Americans living in Southwest Florida.  The Coalition's Senior Focus Committee, chaired by Kathleen Houseweart, is very active in promoting health and safety and community involvement for the third of Sarasota County's population who are over the age of 55.

 

The awards and honors were given during the Golden Appreciation Awards 2006 luncheon held at the Royal Palm Yacht Club in Fort Myers.  The keynote speakers were Tammy Hall, Lee County Commissioner, and Carole Green, Secretary of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
