FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AREA WAL-MART AWARDS COALITION WITH A FOUNDATION GRANT

The Sarasota Coalition on Substance Abuse recently received a $1,000.00 Foundation Grant from the local Wal-Mart #2459, located on Cattlemen Road in Sarasota.  The funds will help offset expenses of the sunset bike ride held in May, which raised the dollars to run the Coalition and offer more services through the group’s Website.

“This again demonstrates Wal-Mart’s commitment to creating a safer Sarasota County”, stated Curt Lavarello, Executive Director for the Coalition.  The Coalition was created in 1999 following the tragic deaths of several youth involving DUI’s, and continues today to focus on family and youth, substance abuse by the elderly, and the Drug-Free Workplace program.
