SCoSA receives award for Florida Family Day Pledges
The Sarasota Coalition on Substance Abuse received an honorable mention award from the Governor's Office of Drug Control for pledges collected for Florida Family Day on September 26, 2005. Florida Family Day is a day in which parents pledge to eat dinner with their children, as statistics show that children who eat dinner with their family on a regular basis are less likely to become involved with substance abuse. SCoSA Website visitors were asked to pledge online in SCoSA's name to eat dinner with their families on September 26th.
The awards were announced during the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association conference held in Orlando in November, 2005. Curt Lavarello, Executive Director of SCoSA, attended the conference.
